If you’re thinking of getting your Dad a “World’s Greatest Dad” mug this year (to go along with his “#1 Dad” mug from 2013), you might want to pay attention to this. From Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, June 15 you’ve got the chance to score a huge Father’s Day gift for Dad that’s way better than any coffee mug.
This time, we’re going big by handing out 10 Atlantic City getaways and thousands in cash to 50 lucky players.
The Grand Prize? An overnight stay in a Fiore Suite at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. It comes with a $150 fine dining credit, two tickets to a burlesque show, and a $50 gift card for a cigar of Dad’s choice.
Regulars at Borgata’s nightlife venues know that Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has the hottest line-up of DJs in Atlantic City.
So, in an up-close and personal vein, we’ll be profiling some of our house DJs from time to time. Today we talk to DJ Spider, a regular at MIXX and mur.mur—part of monthly residences he holds around the country.
Since 2006, DJ Spider has been mixing at premiere venues around the world and is known for always adding to his music library and modifying music from every dance-able genre. DJ Spider has played parties at the Sundance Film Festival, the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, Victoria’s Secret, the Playboy Mansion and the Super Bowl.
And, of course, Borgata.
So, it’s June in Atlantic City at the South Jersey Shore and people’s thoughts are beginning to drift to one thing—time for a dip in the pool.
Ok, technically, Atlantic City is surrounded by tranquil bays and this thing they call the Atlantic Ocean. And yeah you can swim in it. And yes, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa takes advantage of the area’s beautiful beaches (Look for our daily beach shuttle to the beaches in Brigantine Beach starting in July).
But, here on the marina-side of Atlantic City, Borgata and The Water Club do pools—big, luxurious, sand-free, seagull-free, little-hermit-crabs-that-bite-you-free pools (ok, that last one doesn’t really happen anywhere, but you get the idea).
Borgata and The Water Club offer guests six beautiful pools including the Borgata pools and gardens at Spa Toccare and the lap pool at Immersion Spa.
But it’s at The Water Club that you really get that summer pool experience.

Sometimes a name is just too perfect to ignore.
You have to figure that if you’re looking for the classic piano bar experience, you can’t do better than a guy named Dr. Bobby Fingers playing at a classic piano bar like 28 West at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
You know, you walk in, eye the dame sitting in the dark corner, saunter up to the piano, put a sawbuck in the brandy snifter/tip jar thing and say “Play it Fingers. Play something to make her swoon.”
Or maybe you don’t live in a 1940s film-noir movie and you just order a Yeungling and wait for Dr. Fingers to break into a sing-along of “Some Kind of Wonderful.”
Either way it works.
Here in Atlantic City, nobody has to tell us that Sammy Hagar knows how to throw a party. We’ve sat in the sand too many times to count drinking the Red Rocker’s favorite tequila and listening to a musical catalog that spans a few decades—from his solo stuff to Van Halen to Chickenfoot and more.
August 1, Hagar returns for another summer blast in Atlantic City, this time choosing Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s Event Center as a home base. Where else?
Some things change—Hagar is pushing his Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar Rum this time out, for example—but a lot of things stay pretty steady for Hagar. Take his choice of band mates for this tour—which has only one New Jersey stop.
Much like last summer, Hagar has teamed up with some old friends for a tour dubbed “A Journey through the History of Rock.” Hagar will be joined this summer by Van Halen and Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony on bass, guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer Jason Bonham (You may have heard of his dad John).
The tour focuses on a very specific history and you’ll hear plenty of what you’d expect to hear at a Hagar show, as Anthony recently explained to ultimateclassicrock.com.
This may come as a surprise, but today, June 3, is National Chocolate Macaron Day. Or it may be National Chocolate Macaroon Day, and Saturday, May 31, was National Chocolate Macaron Day.
Macaroons, long a favorite at the South Jersey Shore, are basically a baked meringue cookie with a chewy topping.
Macarons—a specialty at Borgata Baking Company—are a kind of a baked meringue cookie sandwich with a chewy butter-cream-type filling.
And they both come in chocolate among a ton of other varieties.
Macarons take a little more technical expertise to pull off, but at this point, who really cares? They’re just great cookies and Borgata Baking Company is the best place in Atlantic City to try them.
Under the direction of Borgata’s Executive Pastry Chef Thaddeus DuBois, the Baking Company’s macarons come in a great variety and set off the menu of sweets and eats as the perfect place for a nosh—especially if you have a sweet tooth.
There was a time, back in the day, when a man’s trip to the barbershop was a uniquely male experience.
Long before men decided to just go to the Hair Barn or wherever to get “styled”, an afternoon in a barbershop was an experience. Picture it. You’ve just been browsing at the hardware store or picking up some oil and spark plugs and you spot that barber’s pole.
Inside there are comfortable chairs, straight razor shaves and combs in those jars with the blue liquid nobody can identify, but smells real nice. You sit down, talk some sports with the barber and get an actual man’s haircut and a close shave. When you leave, well, let’s just say you get some looks.
Those were the days.
Of course at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, those days have never left at, wait for it, The Barbershop, one of the many spa services on property.
