It’s not every day at the Borgata Blog that we get to tell you about another of our new hotel packages at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and get to use a great pun.
So let us introduce a great new package designed for comedy lovers we’re calling the Bor-HaHa Hotel Package.
Get it. Borgata … Bor-HaHa.
Ok, maybe we’re using the description “great” pun a little loosely, but it doesn’t change the fact that our new Bor-HaHa Hotel Package is a great deal for fans of stand-up comedy and the Borgata Comedy Club.
Start by sipping cocktails at Long Bar, then laugh out loud with some of the region’s top comics, before slipping into 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets in your signature Borgata bed.
Starting at $129 a night, you get:
Our friends at Atlantic City Weekly name their list of The Top 40 Under 40 each year — a tribute to young executives and community leaders throughout the Atlantic City area.
And once again, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is proud to have had one of our brightest young executives – Simon Poglein, Director of Database Marketing for Borgata – named one of the Top 40 for 2016.
Atlantic City Weekly joined forces with the Greater Atlantic City Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) in 2005 to establish the Top 40 Under 40 — a campaign designed to recognize outstanding volunteerism, community service, cultural enhancement and exceptional work ethics in sectors of society such as business, government, education, healthcare, hospitality and others.
We think Simon embodies those ideals perfectly and are delighted to see him recognized by the community. We had a Q & A with Simon to discuss his being named to the 2016 Top 40 Under 40 List.
Tell us about your background. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from a rural part of Pennsylvania, located about 45 minutes East of Pittsburgh. My college degree, a B.S. in Communications Media, was completed at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December 2002. Both sides of my family, going back several generations, have traditionally vacationed at the Jersey Shore. During one of those visits, I noticed a billboard for Borgata, advertising employment opportunities to ‘Work Someplace Different.’ I applied, and that is pretty much how my career in gaming began. My initial position was at the My Borgata Center, followed by a subsequent move to marketing. In 2013 I took a marketing position with Isle of Capri Casinos, where I was part of the opening team of Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Within that same year, an opportunity presented itself here at Borgata, and so I made my way back to Atlantic City.
What’s your favorite memory in your professional career at Borgata?
There are so many great memories, it’s hard to name a single favorite! The best memories I have are from those events in which the entire team here at Borgata delivers on a truly special, one of a kind experience for our customers. If I had to name one, Borgata’s Free Throw Basketball tournament held on March 21, 2015 was an event I will never forget. It was the kind of day that makes working at Borgata such a unique and rewarding experience.
Leap Day only comes around every four years, and we at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa think everyone should take advantage of Monday, February 29.
After all, it’s a whole extra day—part of a 366-day year. Ok, it’s an extra Monday, but don’t let that get you down. There’s only 52 Mondays in 2016, just like most years.
But there’s only one February 29, and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa wants to help you make the most of it with these 29 ideas to make Leap Day special. At Borgata, we try to make every day special, but hey, Leap Day has inspired us.
Here’s our suggestions and Happy Leap Day!
So, what are you doing Monday, February 29?
Yes folks, 2016 is another Leap Year meaning an extra day is tacked onto February, the shortest month of the year, to make up for the about six extra hours the Earth takes to get around the sun each year (six hours every four years makes up an extra day).
And so, a lot of whacky traditions have sprung up around the day, not including people who are born on Leap Day walking around saying, “Ha, ha, today’s my sixth birthday.”
Traditions such as in Ireland and Britain where women get to propose marriage to men. We in the U.S. picked up the tradition and called it Sadie Hawkins Day.
And then there’s, uhm, well, some other traditions include, uhm.
Ok that’s about it. And really, in the 21st century who is going to keep women from asking men to marry them whenever they want?
You know what Leap Days really needs? Some more traditions. Luckily we at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa are ready to fill the need.
How about a tradition of a quick getaway to Borgata complete with deals on our classic rooms in Borgata’s Leap Day package which includes:
Sales are great. No matter what it is—clothes, snack crackers, car mats—it’s just a wonderful feeling to know you’re getting a bargain price on an item.
And it’s even better when you can get a sale price on an experience. You know, a great price on a winter getaway where you can relax, enjoy a good show and sleep in a luxuriously appointed room.
Yep. You guessed it. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is having a sale on a hotel package.
From now through April 28 we’re offering our Experience Borgata Package—normally $274 a night—for $169 Sundays through Thursdays.
With the package you get an overnight stay in a beautifully designed Classic Guest Room, a $100 dining credit, two complimentary Comedy Club tickets (regularly $20) and $25 Bonus SLOT DOLLARS®.
With some quick math, that’s about $165 in freebies on a $169 package. Now that’s a sale.
There was a time when Labor Day Weekend was kind of a bittersweet holiday here in Atlantic City. Sure, as a beach resort we partied hard at the unofficial end of the summer, but it was also the end of the season and things we’re about to quiet down until spring.
Well, that quieting down part is long gone and we at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa go full blast 24/7, 365 days a year. But we still love to party on Labor Day Weekend.
So that’s just sweet, no bitter.
To celebrate the end of summer, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has put together a line-up like no other on the Jersey Shore for this Labor Day Weekend. From casino promotions to concerts and shows to the best nightclub action anywhere, we’ve got the perfect holiday celebration to see out a long summer season.
Check it out:
We start our Pick the Pros Football Challenge—which runs through the season until the Big Game—on Labor Day Sept. 7. That’s also the date of the $100,000 Cash Sweepstakes with a $25,000 grand prize.
There’s the exciting nightlife and clubs, the casino action, the relaxing and rejuvenating spa experiences and the great shows and dining. In short, Borgata is a great place to party.
But you may not realize that Borgata is also a great place for one of the most elegant and important events of your life. Namely, your wedding.
Borgata Casino Hotel & Spa along with The Water Club Hotel offers a uniquely Atlantic City ambiance for your special day—sophisticated, modern and with style that knows no equal.
Weddings at Borgata are custom-crafted by a dedicated team, with our wedding specialist providing personal attention to even the minutest detail.
Borgata and The Water Club provide spaces for ceremonies, cocktail hours and receptions, including the lavish Water Club Indoor Pool. A complimentary pre-ceremony room is also available to you on your wedding day.
Weddings at The Water Club feature signature wedding menus crafted by The Water Club’s culinary consultant, Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, and custom-designed wedding cakes by Borgata’s Executive Pastry Chef, Thaddeus DuBois.
And with the long-awaited passage of marriage equality in New Jersey, Borgata and The Water Club are excited to plan and host weddings for our LGBT guests.
We have to admit that here at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, we get a little crazy about the Fourth of July.
It is the perfect summer holiday and when you’re in Atlantic City at the Jersey shore, well, that makes it the perfect holiday period. And when Fourth of July happens on the weekend—it’s a Saturday this year—and considering that every summer weekend is a party at Borgata … well, that’s just more perfect.
How can something be more perfect? Well, check out this lineup for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s Fourth of July celebration this year.
We start with Meghan Trainor at Festival Park on July 3, offer up the best view for the traditional 4th of July Marina Fireworks Show (again from Festival Park) on July 4 and finish it off with … well, a bunch of stuff from a full entertainment schedule at Borgata’s Nightclubs to great promotions in our casino.
Of course, fireworks are the first thing people think of for the 4th, and our new outdoor venue at Festival Park is the perfect place to view this year’s show.
Atlantic City is putting on two shows this year, with a Boardwalk show July 3 and a marina show July 4.
These unique and brilliant fireworks shows are being created by one of the country’s largest fireworks companies, Pyro Spectaculars by Souza, the presenter of pyrotechnic displays and shows around the world including the Macy’s 4th of July Spectacular in New York City.
There’s something cool about the fact that this year Father’s Day and the first day of summer—aka the summer solstice—fall on the same day this year.
After all, it’s appropriate to take the longest day of the year to really honor Dad, who is always there for us with his gentle wisdom, his infinite patience and his never-ending support.
And for those of you who don’t live in a 1950s family sitcom, he’s the one yelling at you to stop texting all the time and keeps filling up the DVR with John Wayne movies.
Yes, you got to love Dad. It takes a long day to really honor dad.
Of course we at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa are going a step further and taking the whole weekend from June 19-21 to honor dad with a line-up of promotions and events that will just make your father sit up and take notice and possibly, finally come out of the bathroom.
But since it’s also the start of another summer season in Atlantic City—and you know how we love summer here at Borgata— the weekend is just doubly blessed. Not only can Dad try out his latest socks and sandals combos, he can also check out Borgata’s new outdoor venue at Festival Park, featuring The Killers, or see Huey Lewis and The News in the Borgata Event Center.
