We welcome Asher Conniff as a guest blogger to Borgata Poker Blog! Asher made Borgata history by winning Borgata Spring Poker Open Kickoff event and Borgata WPT World Championship, both of which he qualified for on BorgatPoker.com online satellite events.
Coming into Sunday, I had already had one of the best weeks of my life. Ten days before, I had turned a $60 satellite on BorgataPoker.com into a $560 seat in the Borgata Spring Poker Open $1 million guaranteed kick-off event, a seat which I then turned into the first place prize of $203,231. After years of grinding poker tournaments full-time, both live and online, it was wildly fulfilling to see the fruits of my labor. Needless to say, between the large sum of money I won and the sweet, sweet vindication of beating my good buddy Matt Stout heads up, I was pretty damn happy!!
Back to “that” Sunday. I was at my next-door neighbor’s apartment in Brigantine, NJ, a stones throw away from Borgata. As we often did, a group of 6 or so of us had gotten together that day to hang out while we all played online poker tournaments. Our ritual: we order food, watch sports and talk through hands on our breaks. Armed with a freshly renewed bankroll and sense of confidence, my levels of relaxation were extremely high, and how could they not be!? I also was overjoyed to be heading to Europe the next week with my mother and sister, a vacation that was to span over 2 weeks and had been planned over 6 months prior. Having never been to Europe, I was super excited, and this was obviously the ideal time to be going on vacation. I even skipped the $3500 buy-in Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship event in anticipation of this trip, knowing that if I was to win/nearly win the tournament I would miss my flight!
You know what’s the coolest thing about online slot machines? The bonus spins.
You’re just chugging along making your bets and suddenly something lines up just right, and the game takes on a life of its own. Graphics start appearing, characters in the game start talking to you and suddenly the game just starts spinning turns—and hitting payoffs—you didn’t have to bet on.
And it’s all just a bonus, money won without risking a bet.
Just ask Calvin from Piscataway, who hit the biggest slot jackpot of the week at BorgataCasino.com during the bonus round of Super Monopoly. A few bonus symbols line up, the game goes on a little side trip and the next thing you know Calvin has $8,180 in the bank.
Without betting, because, you know, Bonus.
What bonuses are waiting for you at BorgataCasino.com and BorgataPoker.com?

If you’ve never been to a Counting Crows concert, you might innocently ask something like “What can I expect when the Counting Crows play at Borgata’s Festival Park Labor Day weekend?
Ha, you really have never been to a Counting Crows show. What to expect? Who knows?
Oh, sure, there will be Counting Crows music sung by Adam Duritz, but that’s about all you can say for sure.
A set list? They don’t use one.
Exact performances of their songs to match their recorded versions so you can sing along? Nope, they change them—and usually the lyrics—every show.
You’ll hear the band’s signature hits like “Mr. Jones,” “Round Here” and “Accidentally in Love”. Well, yeah on that one, but after that, there’s about 80 other Counting Crow songs they choose from.
The bottom line is that the Counting Crows have always been known for their live performances and their improvising on stage. It makes every Counting Crows show unique.
Take the set list. Duritz will work it out right before they take the stage September 5 at Festival Park by sending some text messages.
“It goes to the band, the crew and the opening band, if we’re good friends,” he tells USA Today in a recent interview.
At Festival Park, the opening band is Citizen Cope.

There are a lot of great things we get to yell when we win or score in a game. You know, stuff like “Bingo,” “Gooooaaaal,” “We’re No. 1” etc. But one of the coolest has to be when you get to yell “Yahtzee.”
Anyone who has ever played the classic dice game knows the feeling when all the dice line up just right. Well guess what? You can get your chance to yell Yahtzee playing online at BorgataCasino.com, as Anthony from Somers Point found out playing our newest slots game “Yahtzee.” His $2 bet won him $3,500, which is a little more than we ever won playing Yahtzee in the living room.
Hey we like to keep you yelling—and winning—here at BorgaataCasino.com and BorgataPoker.com.
Of course as much as we love yelling Yahtzee, the real story this week may be the $100,000 jackpot won by Donna from Franklin Lakes on our Double Diamond Slot game. We don’t know what she yelled when she hit the $100K, but she’s probably still yelling.

Looking at the line-up of veteran stand-up comedians that perform here on the big Event Center stage at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, it’s pretty easy to see what the typical stand-up is shooting for.
And that’s a multi-faceted, multi-media career. Seems veteran stand-ups always have books to sell, TV shows to promote and manage to play great rooms like the Event Center.
Of course, it’s not just handed to them. First they have to make a connection with America.
And few comics have ever made the connection as well as Jeff Foxworthy, who plays Borgata’s Event Center August 23.
Just hearing the name, you’re mind goes to “You might be a redneck if…” Or maybe it was “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?” Or you’re thinking of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. Or maybe it’s the “American Bible Challenge.”
Whichever one comes to mind, chances are you’ve spent a few very funny, down-home minutes with Foxworthy on your TV somewhere. Foxworthy even presents himself as a three-pronged attack—comedian, outdoorsman and just a plain old down-home “guy.”
He’s the largest-selling comedy-recording artist, a multiple Grammy Award nominee, and bestselling author of more than twenty-six books. He’s even launched a line of merchandise based around his “You might be a redneck” routines.
But for all his success as a TV host and unofficial spokesman for the south, Foxworthy has always made his stand-up—including the year’s with Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour—his main career focus.
There may be a small lesson in this week’s big online winners at BorgataCasino.com and BorgataPoker.com.
Namely, if you’re playing the Montezuma slots games at BorgataCasino.com, you should bet $6.
Hey it worked for Tracy from Middlesex and Jessica from Atlantic City who both made $6 bets on the Montezuma slots and hit jackpots totaling more than $14,000 collectively. Hey, a trend is a trend.
And let’s hear it for Jessica, who showed just how convenient Borgata online play really is. She’s our neighbor here in Atlantic City and still likes to play online.
As for BorgataPoker.com, our schedule of daily tournaments continues to pay off big for grinders.
So the biggest trend of the week—and every week—is winning.
Here’s a look at the big online winners for the week of August 3 – August 9:
