For couples looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day date, a lot of petty well-worn, almost clichéd scenarios come to mind. There’s the flowers, the candy, candlelight dinner, slow dancing at a romantic lounge … you know the drill.
Nothing wrong with going with the classics.
But for some it might be time to shake things up a little. And Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa may have the perfect Valentine’s Day show to do just that—Comedian Artie Lange appearing at The Music Box.
Loud, obnoxious, offensive, dirty, funny as hell … Lange just screams Valentine’s Day.
Truthfully, the former Howard Stern sidekick brings an unbelievable honesty to his stand-up act, unapologetically discussing the dark side of a life marred by heroin addiction, depression and a suicide attempt, all outlined in his book Crash and Burn.
Lange is a survivor, though anyone who follows his Twitter account (or his new podcast) knows controversy is never far away.
But there’s one thing you can’t deny about Lange … he’s funny.
Here’s a sample.
“I’ve never been swimming, and that’s because it’s never been more than half an hour since I last ate.”
We always look for themes when we bring you the big online winners for the week. Sometimes we get a particularly hot slots game like Loot’EnKhamen or Borgata’s online players have a pretty good week at BorgataPoker.com.
But when you think about it, that’s pretty much the theme every week. Online play at Borgata results in slots jackpots and poker wins. For the week of January 5 – 11, Borgata online paid out better than $25K in tournament wins and jackpots.
It’s a good theme and we’re sticking with it.
Here’s the big online winners for January 5 – 11.
On January 7th, Dae Kwan from New Jersey won $10,000 from a $5 “Crazy 7’s” side bet at BorgataCasino.com.
On January 11th, Rajwinder from New Jersey took 2nd place out of 358 runners in the GSSS II $75,000 Guaranteed Poker tournament (run with our partner PartyPoker) and took home $9,578 at BorgataPoker.com.

Original Post by Will OC on the Winter Poker Open blog: http://winterpokeropen.blog.theborgata.com/2015/01/16/wpo-a-regular-that-were-certainly-missing/
Borgata “regulars” are the lifeblood of the Borgata Poker Room; the players that play in every series, grind the cash game tables daily and are constantly following the action, even when they’re not playing.
We’ve seen plenty of them throughout the first few days of the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, but one player we have yet to see and won’t throughout the rest of the series, is Pasquale Boffice of Manahawkin, NJ.
The 82-year-old former restaurateur, who owned and operated two family establishments in Toms River and Manahawkin/LBI, has been ill over the last few months and earlier this week, while most players on the East Coast were preparing for their trip to the Borgata, he was getting ready to go into surgery.
Thankfully, it was a successful procedure, but he’ll need to remain in the hospital for a few more days and then go through an extensive rehab regimen before he can get back to full health and the place he loves, the Borgata Poker Room.
Pasquale’s biggest tournament score at the Borgata came three years ago in this exact series, when he finished as the runner up in the WPO Senior’s Event, making just under $10,000.
His most recent “big” score came during the 2013 Fall Poker Open Championship event, as Pasquale battled through a field of close to 650 of the best players this region has to offer, to post a top 30 finish, making close to $8,000 for his deep championship run.
A big shout out to Rajwinder from New Jersey, who won $9,578 in last Sunday’s $75K Guarantee – part of the Garden State Super Series on BorgataPoker.com. It’s our $1 million guaranteed online tournament series running now through January 25th and it’s packed with big guarantees every day.
This Sunday, we’re putting another $260,000 on the table through a series of big guaranteed tournaments, so if you want to follow in Rajwinder ‘s footsteps, listen up.
At 5pm on Sunday, January 18th, we’re hosting a $100K Guarantee with a $200 buy-in. Bust out early? Enter our $50K Guarantee at 7pm for $500. Satellites are available for both tourneys right now and there are loads more guarantees running all weekend long.
For everything you need to know, check out our tournament page.
So there you are, planning a big weekend night out and you think to yourself “I’d like to get an early start on the night and, you know, maybe nosh a little bit.”
You may not know it, but it’s that kind of thinking that led to the creation of happy hours.
And 28 West, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s classic piano and cocktail bar does happy hour like no one else.
Think about it. At most happy hours, you can get a domestic beer and maybe, if you’re lucky, some soggy chicken wings or a bowl of those little orange fish-shaped crackers.
That’s one way to do it.
At 28 West, however, you get to sample not only the bar’s extensive craft beer menu, you get a sampling of the bar’s exclusive “Hot Bites” menu.
Introducing 28 West’s Happy Hour Beer & Bites Sampler. The sampler consists of a half serving of each hot bite selection coupled with a 6 oz. pour of each craft beer uniquely paired by our chef.
You want chicken wings? How about Thai Chicken Drumettes served with a glass of Sierra Nevada craft beer, an exceptional full-bodied ale of complex character that has a spicy bouquet of flavors that complements this sweet and fresh dish.
Now that’s doing chicken wings.
There are a lot of great DJ monikers in the world, even if a lot of them don’t make sense. But when they do, that just makes things sweeter.
Take the case of Dijon McFarlane, known as DJ Mustard (Dijon … get it) who plays MIXX January 17. He appears with Doug Grayson with an opening set by Heavy Hitters DJ Mark Da Spot.
AS DJ Mustard explains on his website, the Los Angeles-born native has coined the “ratchet” sound, bringing a hot, new and different sound to hip-hop.
The style is an up-tempo, club oriented, catchy yet a basic melodic hip-hop style.
In just three years, Mustard has put together a string of hits for the likes of Tyga (“Rack City”), 2 Chainz (“I’m Different”), Young Jeezy (“R.I.P.”), Kid Ink (“Show Me”), Y.G. (“My Hitta”) and nabbed collaborations with Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz and more.
Mustard executive produced YG’s debut album “My Krazy Life” which peaked #2 on Billboard 200, #1 R&B/Hip-Hop, & #1 Rap charts. (Mustard recently said the two are “homies” again and have settled their well-publicized public feud, btw)
In 2014, DJ Mustard took over the airwaves with a peak of seven songs hitting the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time. His debut album, 10 Summers was the most downloaded album during the summer of 2014 on Google Play.
The first winter storm has hit the East in 2015 and, as you’d expect, it led to some pretty predictable problems.
There was a lot of shoveling, salting and sliding on the roads going on, not to mention more than a few fender benders. There was also a lot of bundling up, but still freezing anyway.
People are sneezing, sniffling and coughing and we’ve all been reminded of that horrible seasonal visitor called the wind chill factor. That’s when a slight breeze makes it feel like you’re standing on the North Pole.
There’s ice on the windows, the sidewalks and sometimes it feels like its in your very soul.
And the worst part? Only two and a half more months to go.
Let’s face it, at some point we all need to escape winter’s grip, even if for just one night. And there’s no better place to spend that night than Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
Borgata offers up a special winter escape package Sundays through Thursdays designed to beat back the winter blahs.
Staring at $169 a night, you get an overnight stay in a classic room at Borgata, a $100 Dining Credit, two tickets to the Comedy Club at the Music Box and complimentary in room WiFi.
