Pretty clear and everybody knows what to expect.
And then there’s funk.
Think about it. It’s kind of hard to describe funk. It’s jazz, rap, R&B, hip hop, soul and even rock all rolled up into one.
Yet somehow, you still know what to expect—great music, especially when it comes from a hard-edged funk act like Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.
Trombone Shorty appears August 29 at Borgata’s Music Box.
Every Thursday (through August 28) BorgataCasino.com has been giving away an amazing entertainment package. The weekly giveaway’s first prize includes dinner for two, a free room at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and two free tickets to one of our spectacular shows.
And who knows, the next thing you know you could be having a great night at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa like one of our recent weekly winners, Sherri.
It’s going to be a real Motown week at Borgata with Smokey Robinson Presents: Human Nature – The Motown Show at the Borgata Music Box August 8, 9, 10, 15 & 16.
Then, on August 17 comes An Evening of Motown in the Event Center featuring The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Mary Wilson and Jr. Walker’s All Star Band.
The impact of the Motown sound with its mix of doo-wop, R&B, pop, blues, rock and roll and soul changed music in America and you can relive that explosion with an Evening of Motown at the Event Center. Together, the lineup presents some of the greatest songs of the 1960s from Martha Reeves and the Vandellas’ “Nowhere to Run” to the Four Tops “Reach Out I’ll Be There.”
Tickets are $75, $65 and $55 and are available here.
Motown and Borgata, is there a better way to spend a summer night?
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa continues its special summer series in partnership with Bay Atlantic Symphony on Sunday, August 3 with the symphony presenting two of Mozart’s last works–Clarinet Concerto in A major and Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major–in a concert titled All Mozart.
Surprised? Thought Borgata’s summer concerts were all about Sammy Hagar and Lionel Richie?
Don’t be. Borgata has a longstanding commitment to promoting the local arts scene and there’s no better proof than our partnership with South Jersey’s own orchestra the Bay Atlantic Symphony.
Since 2008, Borgata has gone classical with the Symphony and this is our second year presenting Bay Atlantic Symphony Summer Series at Borgata’s Music Box.
The series began in June with a successful performance by the Symphony with renowned pianist Yuja Wang.
Wait, what? Motown?
If that caught your attention, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa would like to introduce you to Human Nature, an Aussie group dedicated to that classic 1960s Motown sound. Human Nature will be performing at Borgata August 8, 9 & 10 and again August 15 & 16 at The Music Box in special performances presented by Smokey Robinson.
Yes, the Smokey Robinson. That’s how Motown these guys are.
Here in Atlantic City, nobody has to tell us that Sammy Hagar knows how to throw a party. We’ve sat in the sand too many times to count drinking the Red Rocker’s favorite tequila and listening to a musical catalog that spans a few decades—from his solo stuff to Van Halen to Chickenfoot and more.
Some things change—Hagar is pushing his Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar Rum this time out, for example—but a lot of things stay pretty steady for Hagar. Take his choice of band mates for this tour—which has only one New Jersey stop.
Much like last summer, Hagar has teamed up with some old friends for a tour dubbed “A Journey through the History of Rock.” Hagar will be joined this summer by Van Halen and Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony on bass, guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer Jason Bonham (You may have heard of his dad John).
The tour focuses on a very specific history and you’ll hear plenty of what you’d expect to hear at a Hagar show, as Anthony recently explained to ultimateclassicrock.com.
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is Atlantic City’s leader in live entertainment and has put together another amazing summer schedule of live shows. From comedians such as Billy Gardell and Lewis Black to rock legends like Santana and John Mellencamp, Borgata’s summer line-up has got everyone’s tastes covered.
And that’s especially true if you’re feeling a little bit country.
Country superstars Keith Urban (July 17) and Darius Rucker (July 25) swing into the Borgata Event Center this summer.
Her current tour—which stops at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa June 27—has been grabbing headlines as if Twitter was made just for her.
Whether she’s showing off her half-shaved hairstyle with bestie Demi Lovato (actually, she dropped in on Lovato’s tour), sharing pics from a meet-and-greet with fans in Brazil or just releasing her latest video “Hello Kitty”, there’s hardly a moment when Avril isn’t being Avril online.
If you’re a fan of Borgata’s I LOVE HOUSE series you’ll want to check out the March lineup at our two nightlife hotspots, MIXX and mur.mur. We’ve got many of the best DJs in the country stopping by on their way for the Ultra Music Festival in Miami later this month. If you’re like most […]
