And we do mean party as we’ve lined up one of the best entertainment weekends you’ll see at any time of year.
His 2012 role in “Silver Linings Playbook” was his first movie role in five years since “Rush Hour 3” (a movie that briefly made him the highest paid actor in Hollywood) in 2007—a film franchise he hopes to reprise with a Rush Hour 4.
No, Tucker is too much of a perfectionist and too involved with his family life to rush his own career. But in 2011, Tucker did return to his roots by beginning to play comedy clubs again.
“I waited a long time and the right things weren’t coming to me—the roles I was offered weren’t that challenging—so I started trying to develop a bunch of projects for myself,” Tucker told The Daily Beast in 2012 (he doesn’t do a lot of interviews either). “I was always looking and hoping the right thing would come. I knew stepping back a bit and going back to my stand-up roots would help me gain perspective.”
Tucker fans can see some of that perspective when the comedian plays at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa this Saturday, August 23 in the Event Center. Tucker’s Borgata appearance is one of only three remaining shows he has scheduled for the year and the only stop on the East Coast.
It’s going to be a real Motown week at Borgata with Smokey Robinson Presents: Human Nature – The Motown Show at the Borgata Music Box August 8, 9, 10, 15 & 16.
Then, on August 17 comes An Evening of Motown in the Event Center featuring The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Mary Wilson and Jr. Walker’s All Star Band.
The impact of the Motown sound with its mix of doo-wop, R&B, pop, blues, rock and roll and soul changed music in America and you can relive that explosion with an Evening of Motown at the Event Center. Together, the lineup presents some of the greatest songs of the 1960s from Martha Reeves and the Vandellas’ “Nowhere to Run” to the Four Tops “Reach Out I’ll Be There.”
Tickets are $75, $65 and $55 and are available here.
Motown and Borgata, is there a better way to spend a summer night?
Mixed Martial Arts returns to Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa August 9 when Cage Fury Fighting Championship presents three, count’em three action-packed title fights.
Of course, hardcore MMA fans know that the mixing of boxing, grappling and martial arts styles you see in an MMA fight isn’t new at all. The form has actually been around since the early 1900s.
But it was in the 2000s that MMA really took off in the U.S. setting attendance and viewership records that rival and even beat the greatest prize fights in history. Put simply, MMA offers up the baddest fighters and the most action-packed bouts anywhere.
Today’s MMA champions mix lightning-fast punches, kicks, knees and elbows, with superb wrestling and grappling skills. They’re capable of knocking out an opponent with a single strike or choking him until he taps or loses consciousness.
Atlantic City and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa have been at the cutting edge of the MMA explosion, especially when Borgata teamed with Cage Fury Fighting Championships, the nation’s No. 1 regional MMA promotion which has a long history of presenting MMA fights in Atlantic City.
When it comes to great entertainment families, it’s usually pretty easy to figure out who is the dominant player in the mix.
Who’s your favorite Jackson brother? Michael.
Who’s your favorite Marx Brother? Groucho.
Who’s your favorite Kardashian? (For the sake of argument, let’s call them an entertainment family) Anyway, it’s Kim.
Come July 20 at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, you won’t have to choose as the Wayans Brothers Live appear at the Borgata Event Center. That’s Keenan, Marlon, Shawn and Damon all on the same stage in what is described as a hybrid stand-up/sketch comedy show. Make that a hilarious stand-up/sketch show.
Here in Atlantic City, nobody has to tell us that Sammy Hagar knows how to throw a party. We’ve sat in the sand too many times to count drinking the Red Rocker’s favorite tequila and listening to a musical catalog that spans a few decades—from his solo stuff to Van Halen to Chickenfoot and more.
Some things change—Hagar is pushing his Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar Rum this time out, for example—but a lot of things stay pretty steady for Hagar. Take his choice of band mates for this tour—which has only one New Jersey stop.
Much like last summer, Hagar has teamed up with some old friends for a tour dubbed “A Journey through the History of Rock.” Hagar will be joined this summer by Van Halen and Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony on bass, guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer Jason Bonham (You may have heard of his dad John).
The tour focuses on a very specific history and you’ll hear plenty of what you’d expect to hear at a Hagar show, as Anthony recently explained to ultimateclassicrock.com.
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is Atlantic City’s leader in live entertainment and has put together another amazing summer schedule of live shows. From comedians such as Billy Gardell and Lewis Black to rock legends like Santana and John Mellencamp, Borgata’s summer line-up has got everyone’s tastes covered.
And that’s especially true if you’re feeling a little bit country.
Country superstars Keith Urban (July 17) and Darius Rucker (July 25) swing into the Borgata Event Center this summer.
Her current tour—which stops at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa June 27—has been grabbing headlines as if Twitter was made just for her.
Whether she’s showing off her half-shaved hairstyle with bestie Demi Lovato (actually, she dropped in on Lovato’s tour), sharing pics from a meet-and-greet with fans in Brazil or just releasing her latest video “Hello Kitty”, there’s hardly a moment when Avril isn’t being Avril online.
Catch all the greatest comedians here at Borgata this Spring! Jay Mohr, named one of the 100 greatest stand-up comics of all time by Comedy Central will bring his comedy to the Music Box at Borgata on March 28. Jenny McCarthy will share the stage with Tammy Pescatelli, Lynne Koplitz, Tiffany Haddish, Justine Marino and […]
When Motley Crue begins its 72-city U.S. tour this July—with a major stop October 25 at the Borgata Event Center—it’s going to be a bittersweet time for Crue’s legions of fans. Yes, it is another Motley Crue tour with the original band still intact playing everything that‘s made them legendary and promising the best live […]
