Borgata “regulars” are the lifeblood of the Borgata Poker Room; the players that play in every series, grind the cash game tables daily and are constantly following the action, even when they’re not playing.
We’ve seen plenty of them throughout the first few days of the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, but one player we have yet to see and won’t throughout the rest of the series, is Pasquale Boffice of Manahawkin, NJ.
The 82-year-old former restaurateur, who owned and operated two family establishments in Toms River and Manahawkin/LBI, has been ill over the last few months and earlier this week, while most players on the East Coast were preparing for their trip to the Borgata, he was getting ready to go into surgery.
Thankfully, it was a successful procedure, but he’ll need to remain in the hospital for a few more days and then go through an extensive rehab regimen before he can get back to full health and the place he loves, the Borgata Poker Room.
Pasquale’s biggest tournament score at the Borgata came three years ago in this exact series, when he finished as the runner up in the WPO Senior’s Event, making just under $10,000.
His most recent “big” score came during the 2013 Fall Poker Open Championship event, as Pasquale battled through a field of close to 650 of the best players this region has to offer, to post a top 30 finish, making close to $8,000 for his deep championship run.
The holiday season may be over after the last New Year’s Day football game winds down, but it also marks the beginning of another hot, action-packed season in the Borgata Poker Room.
We call it January.
Staring with a New Year’s Day Tournament and ending with the Borgata Winter Poker Open, January may be cold and bleak outside, but promises to be a grinder’s paradise inside the Borgata Poker Room.
First up, we continue the Borgata High Hand Challenge.
Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in January (including New Year’s Day), get paid for your high hand.
Win $250 if your hand goes unbeaten for 60 minutes, or $50 if you’re knocked out. A total of $2,000 will be awarded every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday starting at Noon.
Full house or better qualifies for the initial High Hand.
January also sees the continuation of Super Bonus Comp Dollars in the Borgata Poker Room.
Play a minimum of 50 live action hours from January 1 – 31 and earn SUPER BONUS COMP DOLLARS.
There are three basic approaches people take towards the day after Christmas.
For some it’s a day to lounge around, play with your new gifts and eat leftover Christmas ham. For others, it’s a day to just continue the holiday and visit some more family and binge on more egg nog and cookies.
And for others—namely poker players—it’s a day to find a little action.
The Borgata Poker Room wants to help that third group—the poker players—by holding a five-tournament Deep Stack’s Challenge event from December 26 – 30.
That’s five tournaments where players start with either 25K (deep stack), 35K (deeper stack) or 40K (deepest stack) in starting chips. The winner of each tournament also gets a Borgata trophy.
There’s a lot to expect whenever you play in the Borgata Poker Room from great cash and tournament action to big comfy seats and everything in between.
But we’re not ones to let our seats do the talking for us.
The Borgata Poker Room consistently offers the best poker promotions in Atlantic City, the East Coast and possibly the world.
Idle boasting? Ha. Check this list of December promos out.

And, of course, we have December Super Bonus Comp Dollars in play all month. Not just Bonus Comp Dollars mind you, but Super Bonus Comp Dollars. And we’ve dropped the minimum hours needed to earn comp dollars from 60 to 50 hours.
