When Motley Crue begins its 72-city U.S. tour this July—with a major stop October 25 at the Borgata Event Center—it’s going to be a bittersweet time for Crue’s legions of fans.
Yes, it is another Motley Crue tour with the original band still intact playing everything that‘s made them legendary and promising the best live rock experience of the year.
But it will also be the last tour. Motley Crue has made it clear that unlike other bands, there won’t be a series of “farewell tours” or some partial line-up of the band carrying on.
“Everything must come to an end,” said Tommy Lee, Crue’s notorious drummer. “We always had a vision of going out with a big —— bang and not playing county fairs and clubs with one or two original band members! Our job here is done!!!”
Had to clean that up a little, family blog and all, but don’t doubt for a second that Motley Crue is starting a real final tour. This January the band signed a cessation of touring agreement after 2015 in front of the press just to drive the point home.
The most important point, however, is that Motley Crue is going out big.
The band will hit 72 cities in the U.S before starting an international tour with the October 25 date at Borgata’s Event Center – the only Atlantic City stop on the tour.
You can expect the typical Motley Crue spectacular.
“When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” explains bassist Nikki Sixx. “As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour.”
And just to make the tour truly historical, rock legend Alice Cooper will be joining the show.
Yes, Motley Crue and Alice Cooper of “Welcome to my Nightmare” fame.
“Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days,” said Cooper. “Motley has always gone on stage with one attitude and that’s to blow the audience away. That’s exactly how we do it. Putting Motley Crue and Alice Cooper together is going to be just what this summer really NEEDS. We’re going to go out there and tear it up, and I can’t wait to see Motley on stage. Motley Crue and Alice Cooper—a match made in… Armageddon?”
Motley Crue, Alice Cooper and Borgata? A match made in rock heaven.
