The Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot has been responsible for a lot of excitement—and some pretty big payouts—in the Borgata Poker Room. This year alone, the Bad Beat Jackpot has paid out better than $690,000, including one massive jackpot of $540,000.
That’s been enough to create a little bad beat mania in the Borgata Poker Room several times a year. But sometimes Bad Beat mania isn’t enough.
Sometimes you need a Bad Beat Jackpot Frenzy.
Starting today, April 15, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa introduces the $50,000 Bad Beat Jackpot Frenzy.
This new Bad Beat Jackpot is similar to the Small Bad Beat Jackpot under the Borgata’s traditional Bad Beat Jackpot rules. Every time this new jackpot hits $50K, the frenzy begins.
It takes a minimum of quad deuces to quad nines to win the traditional Small Bad Beat Jackpot, which is a percentage of the full jackpot total until it tops out at $50K.
But, when the Frenzy jackpot hits $50K, Borgata will start lowering the minimum hand.
When it hits $50K, the minimum drops to a full house, aces over kings (AAAKK) at the start of Day 1 at noon. If it doesn’t hit by 4pm, the minimum drops again to aces full of queens (AAAQQ). At 8pm, if it still hasn’t hit, the minimum drops to aces full of jacks (AAAJJ).
On to Day 2 if there’s no hit by noon, the minimum drops to AAA1010 and at 4pm drops to AAA99. At 8pm we get the final adjustment with the minimum hand at AAA88 until the jackpot hits.
It’s been a long time since a full house could win a bad beat jackpot in Atlantic City, but here at Borgata, we’re just crazy enough—make that frenzied enough—to do it.
The jackpot pays out 40 percent to the bad beat jackpot winner/loser, 20 percent to the winner of the hand and splits the remaining 40 percent with the other players at the table.
That’s a $20K win for the Bad Beat loser (if you can call it that).
Just a few other things to keep in mind: the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot is only in play at Texas Hold’em tables. There must be $20 in the pot for a hand to be eligible. At least four players have to be in the game and you have to use both your hole cards to make a bad beat hand (so a pocket pair in case of quads).
And, of course, if you suffer a bad beat loss with quad 10s or better, you win the full Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot ($257,000 as of April 14).
Anyone feeling frenzied?
