Well that didn’t take long at all. On just the third day of Borgata’s new Bad Beat Jackpot Frenzy—and pretty early in the morning of that third day —we have a hit for $50K.
In this case, the hit came in a pretty traditional way as four nines went down to a straight flush.
Player Thomas Zeiter had the quad nines which lost to Michael Lista’s straight flush.
The hit came at 5:15am on a $1-$2-No Limit Table.
Zeiter wins $20,000 and Lista, as the winner of the hand, gets $10,000. Six other players won $3,333 just for being at the table and apparently not being at all worried about sleeping on a Thursday morning.
Remember, the Borgata Poker Room’s Bad Beat Jackpot Frenzy works like this:
When the Borgata Bad Beat Frenzy Jackpot hits $50K, the minimum hand to be beaten in a Small Bad Beat Jackpot drops from quad deuces to nines to a full house, aces over kings (AAAKK) at the start of Day 1 at noon. If it doesn’t hit by 4pm, the minimum drops again to aces full of queens (AAAQQ). At 8pm, if it still hasn’t hit, the minimum drops to aces full of jacks (AAAJJ).
On Day 2 if there’s no hit by noon, the minimum drops to AAA1010 and at 4pm drops to AAA99. At 8pm we get the final adjustment with the minimum hand at AAA88 until the jackpot hits.
After this first hit, the frenzy jackpot is already being reset to $50K, so the minimums will start dropping.
The full Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot—minimum hand quad 10s—is at $228,284.
Hey, we promised you a Bad Beat Jackpot Frenzy, and that’s just what we have even as the Borgata Spring Poker Open is creating some serious excitement of its own. Remember, you can follow all the Open’s action at our live tournament blog.
The small Bad Beat Jackpot reset at $50K which means the frenzy starts again tomorrow, April 18th at noon. The Poker Room at Borgata could be giving away a total of $100K in one week!
