Cards are in the air for the first ever World Poker Tour Championship to be held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
The $5 million guaranteed tournament marks several firsts for the WPT and Borgata, including the first time a WPT Championship has carried a prize-pool guarantee.
The $15,000 + $400 tournament is one of the highlights of the poker year and brings out the best in the porker world. The tournament has two opening sessions, including today’s Day 1A, which kicked off at 11am.
Already in the house are names such as Matt Glantz, Jeff Madsen, Anthony Zinno and Dani Stern to name just a very few.
Also in the field is Myroslaw Woroch, who took down the BorgataPoker.com New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire sit-n-go, earning a $1 million prize package which included a seat at the tournament. That was just one way to win your way into the Championship event as Borgata and BorgataPoker.com offered a series of satellites and qualifiers.
In fact, the last scheduled satellite for the WPT Championship is set for 6pm today, April 21.
