The 2014 Borgata Summer Poker Open is cementing its status as the East Coast alternative to the World Series of Poker, as it once again sets new Borgata records for players.
Event 1 of the Summer Poker Open, a $350 buy-in Deep Stack No limit Hold’em tournament brought out 1,436 entries, breaking the 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open record of 1,383 entries.
That created a total buy-in of $487,522, easily smoking the event’s $300,000 prize-pool guarantee.
Day 2 of the event—after three separate opening sessions—saw 275 players advance and compete for the first place cash of $101,401. The event pays off the top 140 finishers.
And the first winner’s trophy of the 2014 Borgata Summer Poker Open was awarded Friday in Event 2—as Event 1 was a four-day affair—when Mohammed Farah outlasted 179 entrants and took home $18,233 in a $350 buy-in black chip bounty tournament (He also racked up $1,000 in bounties).
Don’t forget, the $500,000 Guaranteed Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship, a $2,000 + $200 buy-in, No Limit Hold’em tournament kicks off Saturday, June 21.
