Big Game Specialty Drinks at Borgata’s Long Bar

Big Game CocktailsIt’s a battle for the ages, or rather, a battle of the ages. Sunday’s Big Game features the old pro against the young upstart, the tale of two great defenses and a golden celebration of 50 years of championship football.

And it could mark the last hurrah for one of football’s all-time greats.

Dramatic is it not?

Fortunately, football drama comes with a solid dose of “hey, time to party,” and none of the stress and seriousness of, oh let’s say, a presidential election.

So we here at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and especially at Long Bar, have devised the perfect way to party—signature drinks representing your chosen team. It’s one thing to toast the great career of Peyton Manning, and another to acknowledge the rising star of Cam Newton, but it’s just downright cool to do it with the delectable cocktails designed by Long Bar’s mixologists.

Here’s our starting line-up.

DENVER BRONCOS

The Sheriff The Sheriff Cocktail

A tip-of-the-hat to one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever lace up his cleats; Peyton will be looking to lay down the law one last time against a vaunted Panthers D. Audible out of your normal drink order and shout “Omaha” before taking your first sip.

  • 2 oz Jose Cuervo Silver
  • 4 oz Orange (or Grapefruit) Juice
  • ½ oz Lemon Juice
  • ½ oz Simple Syrup
  • Ruby Port
  • Garnish: Cherry and/or Pineapple
  • Glass: Collins Glass

Fill half the glass with ice, followed by tequila, orange juice, lemon juice, syrup and finally port. Add cherry & pineapple as garnish.

Pair with Long Bar’s Soft Pretzels featuring port wine cherry mustard.

The Mile High MasherMile High Master Cocktail

The perfect libation for a ravenous Bronco Backer – wet your whistle with a concoction that is sure to fuel your undying love for the AFC’s titleholders.

  • 1 Part Gin
  • 1 Dash Orange Flavored Brandy
  • 1 Part Green Chartreuse
  • 1 Part Vermouth, Sweet
  • Garnish: Maraschino Cherry and/or Orange Slice

Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry and/or orange slice.

Pair with Long Bar’s mouthwatering Buffalo wings.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

The SupermanThe Superman Cocktail

Whether he’s stiff-arming his way into the end zone or tossing an 80-yard bomb, Cam Newton – aka Superman – is an MVP-caliber performer who has championed his team to the pinnacle of greatness. Support Carolina’s #1 with a beverage as unique as the “man of steel’s” skill-set.

  • 2 oz Hpnotiq
  • 1 oz Raspberry Vodka
  • Lemon-lime Soda
  • Garnish: Whip Cream
  • Glass: Rocks Glass

Add ice to a rocks glass. Pour Hpnotiq and raspberry vodka. Top with lemon-lime soda. Garnish with whip cream.

Pair with Borgata Baking Company’s succulent lobster sliders.

Dab-tiniDab-tini Cocktail

It has taken the sports world by storm and no one has brought dabbin’ into the spotlight more than Cam and the entire Panthers team; so drop your head, raise your arm and dance your way to this delicious concoction.

  • 2 oz Malibu Black
  • 1 oz Chambord
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Pomegranate Juice
  • Glass: Martini Glass

Combine ingredients in mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled Martini glass.

Pair with Long Bar’s Beef Sliders with roasted tomatoes, chile relish and avocado mayo.

February Tournament Events in the Borgata Poker Room

February Poker PromotionsWhile the Borgata Winter Poker Open is in full swing—running events until February 5—the Borgata Poker Room hasn’t forgotten the rest of the month and we’ve put together a great line-up of tournament events and promotions.

First up is a $250,000 Guaranteed Borgata Almighty Stack tournament set for February 13 – February 16. Spend your Valentine’s Day weekend with a 100K stack and some poker love. The tournament is a $400 + $50 two-day event in Borgata’s Signature Room with four starting sessions.

Diana Ross at BorgataDiana Ross: I’m coming out! From her days as one of The Supremes to her long and illustrious solo career, they simply don’t make them like Ms. Ross anymore. Cyndi Lauper and Boy George: It’s like getting two gay icons for the price of one – join the legendary Cyndi Lauper and Boy George for an evening of memorable music and entertainment. Wanda Sykes: Get ready to laugh ’til your stomach hurts. The out comedian and performer, who is never afraid to speak her mind, will be kicking off the summer at Borgata for a weekend of stand-up that will you in stitches. June 10 and 11, $55-59, Music Box. 

Jane Lynch: Who doesn’t love the star of the mega-hit musical series Glee, who has won Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, and People’s Choice awards? The actress, singer, host, and advocate will be heading to Borgata for an evening of songs and comedy that will tickle your funny bone. June 25, $49-59, Music Box.

Straight No Chaser: The all-male a cappella group, who has sun with the likes of Dolly Parton, Phil Collins, Sara Bareilles, and Paul McCartney, will heat up your July with a two-day series of concerts featuring numbers from their newest album, The New Old Fashioned. Josh Groban: Broadway fans, take note: The man behind the legendary voice will be in Atlantic City performing hits from his newest album, Stages, a collection of memorable show tunes that you probably know all the lyrics to.
