It’ll be here before you know it, with warm beach weather, barbecues and a host of great concert tours crisscrossing the country.

And as always, when it comes to concerts, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa leads the way at the Jersey Shore with tickets for five great July concerts going on sale March 18.

Our 2016 summer lineup of shows and concerts is shaping up to be another standout year for Borgata Entertainment. As always, Borgata offers a diverse lineup to suit any musical taste, whether it’s jazz with George Benson (July 23), legendary rock and blues stars Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy together on July 23, classic 80s rock with Huey Lewis and the News (July 24), traditional beloved standards with Tony Bennett (July 29) or even a-cappella madness with Straight No Chaser (July 29 & 30).

Here’s a look at the concerts going on sale March 18:

George BensonGeorge Benson

July 23

Jazz guitarist George Benson is best known for his 1976 album, the mostly instrumental album “Breezin,’” and for the vocal cut “This Masquerade,” which won the Grammy for Record of the Year. That album introduced his soulful jazz stylings to the mainstream, and set off a career that spanned decades. You’ve heard Benson playing on tracks from Stevie Wonder (“Another Star”) and his second breakthrough album “Give Me the Night” in 1980. He’s been a staple on the smooth jazz charts ever since and brings his latest tour to Borgata July 23.

Jeff beck is one of the most celebrated rock guitarists of all time. Buddy Guy is one of the all-time great blues guitarists. Beck ranks 5th on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 greatest guitarists of all time.” He’s played with a hall of fame list of artists and is one of three noted guitarists that played with The Yardbirds along with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. Guy ranked 30th on Rolling Stone’s list and is cited as a major influence for pretty much every famous rock guitarist you’ve ever heard of including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. When the two take the stage at Borgata July 23, the rock gods will rejoice.

Anyone who remembers the 80s also can remember the words to about a zillion Huey Lewis and the News songs. One of the most prolific hit makers of the decade, the San Francisco-based Lewis is responsible for hits like “I Want a New Drug,” “If This Is It,” and “The Power of Love.” Though the band’s lineup has changed somewhat and Lewis himself launched a successful acting career, the band has always toured and released its latest live album in 2010. Borgata welcomes them July 24.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is proud to be Tony Bennett’s Atlantic City home, regularly hosting Bennett alone and also with his sometimes partner Lady Gaga (who played with Bennett at Borgata in July 2015). An evening with Bennett is an evening with timeless and classic song stylings from a singer who hasn’t lost a thing despite approaching his 90th birthday. Bennett needs no introduction, most certainly to Borgata fans. He returns to Borgata July 29.

 

 

Straight No ChaserStraight No Chaser

Perhaps you know the a-cappella group Straight No Chaser form their classic rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Well, the group goes summer concert mode at Borgata on July 29 & 30 bringing their special style to Atlantic City. Though formed in 1996 by students at Indiana University, the current line-up has toured extensively since 2010 and release the album “The New Old Fashioned” in 2010.

Borgata Online Gaming Winners for February 29 – March 6

Smoothustler’s latest GSSS $100K Win Just Another Notch on Victory Belt

GSSS 2016The big story over the weekend was GSSS #30, the $100,000 Guaranteed tournament that saw a final prize pool of $110,600, fueled by 553 entries.

The title of the No Limit Hold’em tourney went to online poker player smoothustler, who won $19,100.62 for his first place victory. And while definitely a big deal, even more impressive is the fact that smoothustler is somewhat of a Garden State Super Series juggernaut.

Since March 2nd, smoothustler has cashed in eight Garden State Super Series events, final tabling six of them. And it’s not just Texas Hold’em that the New Jersey online poker player has proven to be a pro at. In addition to NHL, he’s crushed PLO and 7Stud events, earning over $23,000 in winnings so far.

This isn’t the first Garden State Super Series that smoothustler has done exceptionally well in. Last October, he won over $5,000 in two GSSS III events.
