Throwback Songs You Need For Your Pregame

April 14, 2017 by Vanessa James Leave a Comment

It’s always a big process going out for the night.

DJ imageFirst, someone has to offer up his/her home to the squad. “I guess we can all hang out at my apartment.” Check.

Second, everyone’s coordinating his/her drinks of choice. “Can you pick me up a bottle? I’ll get the chasers.” Check.

Third, one person decides to make the executive decisions for the night. “We’re leaving at this time, and Susan is calling an Uber X for her, Becky and Stephanie.” Check.

Now the fun begins. When the drinks start pouring, there’s always that one person offering to take the aux-cord duties. Rather than playing the recent hits or predictable playlists from Spotify, entertain the crew with a bit of nostalgia. The best party is one where everyone is drunkenly singing the lyrics to every song.

Throwbacks never disappoint.

  1. “1, 2 Step” – Ciara

“THIS BEAT IS automatic, supersonic, hypnotic, funky fresh.” Rock it, don’t stop it with this 2004 Ciara jam.

  1. “Caught Up” – Usher

It’s always a tossup between bumpin’ this track and “Yeah!” – Usher’s Confessions album is the best kind of throwback.

  1. “Paper Planes” – M.I.A.

Guaranteed to be stuck in your head the rest of the night. M.I.A.’s voice and energy is the pick me up of the night.

  1. “Lose Yourself” – Eminem

THE classic pregame song. From start to finish, every single person drops what he/she is doing and raps along with the Rap God.

  1. “Ignition” – R Kelly

This track is so poppin’ that it’s a regular for DJs to mix into their set. No explanation needed.

  1. “Toxic” – Britney Spears

Honestly, the princess of pop is basically a representation for any Backstreet Boy, *NSYNC, Christina Aguliera type throwback that 90’s babies would go wild for. Of course – It’s Britney Bitch.

  1. “Roses” – OutKast

Caroline. CAROLINE!

  1. “Toma” – Pitbull

This is THE best Pitbull song ever. His Spanish flair with Lil Jon ad libs? Perfect pregame music.

  1. “Bed Rock” – Young Money

Simple: Nicki x Drizzy x Weezy x others. #YMCMB

  1. “Jumpin’ Jumpin’”  – Destiny’s Child

“It’s 11:30 and the club is jumpin’ jumpin’.”

No throwback playlist is complete without a Destiny’s Child hit.

Turn up the speakers and throw it back for the night. Tweet @PremierAC your favorite throwback music to jam to before going out.

Honorable mentions:

“Let’s Go” – Trick Daddy

“Temperature” – Sean Paul

“Promiscuous” – Nelly Furtado

“Since U Been Gone” – Kelly Clarkson

“Monster” – Kanye West feat.  Jay Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver and Nicki Minaj.

“Get Right” – J. Lo

5 Dragons Grand Slot Machines Make Borgata Debut

April 14, 2017 by Becky Grimm Leave a Comment

5 Dragons GrandIf you’re a fan of the popular 5 Dragons game, you’re in luck. Get ready for the debut of 5 Dragons Grand at Borgata, a brand new slot machine that includes new and enhanced features to create a grand gaming experience.

Existing fans will recognize the same beloved 5 Dragons symbol set, but will experience higher pay values for the symbols in 5 Dragons Grand that can stack. The Jackpot Feature is triggered by three or more Coin symbols from left to right. This grants players one spin of the Jackpot Wheel, which may award a progressive jackpot and/or free games. During the Jackpot Wheel feature, a winning Mini, Minor, Major or Super jackpot segment with Bonus Wheel on it grants one spin of the wheel, which awards a progressive multiplier. The jackpot awarded from the Jackpot Feature is multiplied by the winning multiplier.

There’s also an exciting Free Games feature, which is awarded via the Jackpot Feature. Players pick from 5 – 20 free games that are associated with various multiplier sets ranging from 2x to 30x. Any extra Free Games awarded during the Jackpot Feature are added to each of the Free Games selections for even more chances to win. The Free Games feature can be triggered again during the bonus with either three or more coin symbols from left to right or it may be awarded randomly as a surprise.

5 Dragons Grand is the perfect slot for anyone who loves high-paying symbol values, and anyone who loves a good wheel bonus game!. Make sure you try you luck on Borgata‘s brand new machine, where a multi-level progressive game includes a life-changing $10,000 progressive jackpot, and four lower progressives can be multiplied up to ten times for maximum excitement.

The Easiest Way to Increase Your Hourly Rate

April 14, 2017 by Matt Stout Leave a Comment

The other day I was playing a huge buy-in poker tournament where the majority of players have spent years working on their playing style and studying the game from many different angles. But given the behavior of the players at the table, it was evident that the simplest way to increase your edge was going unnoticed. Get your notepad ready, because here is the one simple trick that is going to undoubtedly increase your hourly rate:

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO HELP MOVE THE GAME ALONG!

Poker is a game of small edges. One of my favorite sayings to explain the way poker edges work to a lay person is to say,  “On any given day, it’s 80% luck and 20% skill. But in the long run, it becomes 80% skill and 20% luck.” The more hands you play, the more you get to push your edge against your opponents. Per hand edges are low, but when your table is playing more hands than the other tables you all stand a better chance of winning the tournament than players at other tables. Even in cash games it matters for hourly rate. Here are the four easiest ways to accomplish this goal:

1) Play hands faster & Call more clocks

I’ve already blogged about how people tank too much at the table in tournaments. Yesterday I tweeted “Everyone at this (Pot Limit Omaha final table) who takes >20 sec to act apologizes to the table, while NL players tend to throw a fit if you clock them after 7 min.”

I can’t control the behavior of other players, but I can call clock when necessary and appropriate. As for myself, I will continue to make my decisions as quickly as I reasonably can at all times. If I make slightly worse decisions because I don’t take enough time I trust that the edge I have in the additional hands I will be dealt as a result of my speedy play will compensate for it in the long run.

2) Collect antes for the dealer

Some dealers will ask you not to do it, but the vast majority of dealers will happily have one player at each end of the table collect antes from them each hand. It may only save 5-10 seconds per hand, but that often translates to 1-2 more hands per down (half hour) than other tables are getting. This literally benefits every player at your table unless it’s a player who is shortstacked near the bubble or it’s a satellite).

3) Post exact change

I constantly see players waste the dealer’s time by betting or calling with oversized chips despite the fact that they have exact change in their stack to bet/call with. When you waste the dealer’s time, you’re really wasting the entire table’s time including your own! This is one of my biggest pet peeves at the table. These people seem determined to collect all of the small chips at the table. While I’m left to wonder what they’re trying to compensate for, they further slow down the game by hoarding all of the small chips so that other players CAN’T post exact change. JUST STOP IT, SMALL CHIP HOARDERS!

4) Make change for/with other players; Don’t wait for the dealer to

This is just one last bit of common sense that seems to be lost on so many poker players. I get that it’s annoying to have to talk to other people with your mouth sometimes, but tossing a chip in front of a player and saying “Change please?” isn’t really that difficult. The dealer should not have to stop and look around the table to see who can break your 5k chips to pay your 25 ante. If you see people at your table doing this, change the chip for them before it has a chance to slow the game down and prevent you from getting one more hand in for the down.

THAT’S IT! It’s that simple and I can almost guarantee that if you listen to this advice, you will experience an increase in your hourly expectation. So HURRY IT UP and good luck!

Savor Dogfish Ales at Borgata’s Beer and Bites Event

April 13, 2017 by Ryan Ross Leave a Comment

Bites are better with beer, especially when those bites are prepared by Borgata’s Excecutive Chef, Tom Biglan, and the beer is by Dogfish, the Delaware-based brewery that’s been brewing everything beer since 1995. Savor Borgata is proud to present Beer and Bites, a causal afternoon at Borgata’s Long Bar featuring Chef Biglan’s food and Dogfish’s signature ales, on Saturday, April 22.

Beer

Guests can expect a three-course menu perfectly paired with Dogfish beer.  To start, try a Seared Scallop, with chili, sweet corn, and micro celery. It will be pairs with Sea Quench Ale, made with lime peel, black lime, and sea salt that’s a replica of the type you’d find in both Maine and the Chesapeake Bay.

Next, enjoy at Caramelized Duck Breast, with spiked lychees and Tokyo negi, paired with Dogfish’s Flesh and Blood IPA. It’s made with real citrus, including lemon flesh and blood orange juice, plus orange and lemon peel blended with Warrior and Centennial hops.

Finally, try Slow Roasted Pork with smoky molasses BBQ and grilled fingerling potato salad. It pairs perfectly with 60 Minute IPA, a powerful but balanced East Coast IPA with more than 60 hop additions over a 60-minute boil.

Tickets to the 1PM event are $39 and can be purchased here.

Recipe: Borgata Executive Pastry Chef Thaddeus DuBois’ Chocolate Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

April 6, 2017 by Ryan Ross Leave a Comment

If there were two things that were born to be together, it’s chocolate and peanut butter! If you’re a fan of this sweet combination, Borgata’s Executive Pastry Chef Thaddeus DuBois has created the ultimate treat: a Chocolate Peanut Butter Egg that’s exclusively available at Borgata Baking Company. These colorful eggs are filled with a creamy peanut butter blend that make them the perfect Easter treat.

If you’re feeling crafty at home and want to make a set of these delicious chocolate eggs, here’s how Chef Thaddeus creates these one-of-a-kind concoctions:

Tools and Ingredients:

  • Egg-shaped plastic mold(s)
  • Colored cocoa butter
  • Peanut Butter filling (peanut butter, sugar, milk chocolate, chopped dry roasted peanuts – blended)
  • Tempered chocolate

Instructions:

RGK_0083

  • Polish molds with cotton, making sure they are completely clean. Hint: Everything that is on the molds will show in the finished product, so to ensure you have a smooth, shiny egg make sure your mold is sparkling!
  • Heat up colored cocoa butter until melted. Let cool until its 28 degrees C, making sure to agitate every once in a while (this process is called tempering and it will make the chocolate shiny and more aesthetically pleasing)
  • When cocoa butter is ready, apply to molds. Splatter and brush to create desired pattern.

RGK_0123

  • When cocoa butter is set/dry fill mold with chocolate and turn over. Tap and scrape the mold to get excess chocolate out so you have a thin, clean, even coat.
  • After approximately 5 minutes, the chocolate will be set. Pipe prepared peanut butter filling into molds.
  • Put chocolate eggs with filling into refrigerator until filling begins to harden slightly.

RGK_0135

  • Seal the bottoms of the eggs with tempered chocolate by piping and tapping the mold gently. Scrape off any excess chocolate so that the eggs will easily pop out of the mold.
  • Refrigerate for at least an hour or until the eggs easily release from the mold.
  • Enjoy!
