It’s always a big process going out for the night.
First, someone has to offer up his/her home to the squad. “I guess we can all hang out at my apartment.” Check.
Second, everyone’s coordinating his/her drinks of choice. “Can you pick me up a bottle? I’ll get the chasers.” Check.
Third, one person decides to make the executive decisions for the night. “We’re leaving at this time, and Susan is calling an Uber X for her, Becky and Stephanie.” Check.
Now the fun begins. When the drinks start pouring, there’s always that one person offering to take the aux-cord duties. Rather than playing the recent hits or predictable playlists from Spotify, entertain the crew with a bit of nostalgia. The best party is one where everyone is drunkenly singing the lyrics to every song.
Throwbacks never disappoint.
- “1, 2 Step” – Ciara
“THIS BEAT IS automatic, supersonic, hypnotic, funky fresh.” Rock it, don’t stop it with this 2004 Ciara jam.
- “Caught Up” – Usher
It’s always a tossup between bumpin’ this track and “Yeah!” – Usher’s Confessions album is the best kind of throwback.
- “Paper Planes” – M.I.A.
Guaranteed to be stuck in your head the rest of the night. M.I.A.’s voice and energy is the pick me up of the night.
- “Lose Yourself” – Eminem
THE classic pregame song. From start to finish, every single person drops what he/she is doing and raps along with the Rap God.
- “Ignition” – R Kelly
This track is so poppin’ that it’s a regular for DJs to mix into their set. No explanation needed.
- “Toxic” – Britney Spears
Honestly, the princess of pop is basically a representation for any Backstreet Boy, *NSYNC, Christina Aguliera type throwback that 90’s babies would go wild for. Of course – It’s Britney Bitch.
- “Roses” – OutKast
Caroline. CAROLINE!
- “Toma” – Pitbull
This is THE best Pitbull song ever. His Spanish flair with Lil Jon ad libs? Perfect pregame music.
- “Bed Rock” – Young Money
Simple: Nicki x Drizzy x Weezy x others. #YMCMB
- “Jumpin’ Jumpin’” – Destiny’s Child
“It’s 11:30 and the club is jumpin’ jumpin’.”
No throwback playlist is complete without a Destiny’s Child hit.
Turn up the speakers and throw it back for the night. Tweet @PremierAC your favorite throwback music to jam to before going out.
