The new MGM Springfield is teaming up with Holyoke Community College and Springfield Technical Community College to help people launch a successful career as a table games or poker dealer. The Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute’s (MCCTI) Gaming School prepare the local community for hiring opportunities at the soon-to-open MGM Springfield, which anticipates hiring over 450 table games dealers, representing nearly 1/3 of the workforce being hired to support the property operations.
Classes, which will be held at 95 State Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, will be offered in Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini-Midi Baccarat, Pi Gow, Carnivals, and Poker. The recommended tracks are divided into two 10-week sessions, and it is recommended to attend both sessions. Table Games classes begin February 26, 2018, while Poker sessions begin April 16, 2018.
MGM Springfield is being designed to ignite a Downtown Springfield revival and enhance the region’s urban center. The mixed-used development includes a 250-room hotel with a world-class spa, pool and roof deck; 125,000 square feet of gaming space with 2,500 slot machines, 100 gaming tables, poker room and high limit VIP gambling area; about 55,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space that will accommodate 15 shops and restaurants; and a multi-level parking garage.
