5 Ideal Summertime Cocktails to Try at Borgata

August 16, 2018 by Brian Burke Leave a Comment

Borgata’s world-class restaurants and bars have mixologists ready to serve up unique libations that will surely keep the summer very cool. So relax, kick back and enjoy one (or more) of these fabulous cocktails before it’s too late. We picked five of our favorite warm-weather libations that you can only find at Borgata.

At Borgata Beer Garden: Strawberry Daiquiri: White Rum | Fresh Strawberry Purée. It’s a perfect way to cool off after a dip in our outdoor pool!  Who doesn’t love a slushy drink in the summer?

We're feeling especially thirsty this Thursday! Borgata Beer Garden has a great strawberry daiquiri. Who's joining us? #NationalDaiquiriDay!

A post shared by Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (@borgataac) on Jul 19, 2018 at 3:08pm PDT

At Borgata Outdoor Pool: Cucumber Cooler: Skyy vodka | melon liqueur | lemonade | cucumber. The gorgeous green color on this cocktail alone makes it perfect for the warm weather.  And, cucumbers are hydrating, so it’s almost like drinking a health food 🙂

At Sunroom: Salty Dog: Tangueray gin | fresh squeezed grapefruit | salted rim. This unique gin-based drink is full of of fresh critrus, with a savory salty twist.  It’s the perfect choice after a day at The Water Club’s pools.

At Angeline: The Garibaldi Wallbanger: Stoli Vanilla, Galliano, San Pellegrino Blood Orange Soda with a slightly dry finish. It’s dessert in a glass!   The blood orange soda mixes perfectly with the vanilla vodka for an adult creamsicle.

At Wolfgang Puck American Grille: Raspberry & Rhubarb Mule: Sobieski Citron, Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew, Rhubarb Bitters, Raspberry Puree, Fresh Mint. Served in a copper mug, this new spin on a classic mule blends plenty of fresh raspberry purée and mint for a refreshing way to cool down this summer.

August 15, 2018 by Jen Jones Leave a Comment

August 15th is National Relaxation Day, a day to celebrate, well, doing all of the things that make you take a deep breath and enjoy life.  You might not think of Borgata as your go-to place to relax (given the non-stop excitement of the resort), but the property has plenty of ways to celebrate what may end up being your new favorite holiday.  Here’s a list just some of the ways you can relax in style.

Immersion Spa: The Water Club’s two-story spa located on the 32nd floor features 360 degrees of floor-to-ceiling water views and treatments tailored to loosen tension. Immersion’s 16 indulging experience rooms offer a wide variety of comprehensive spa services including luxury skin care, conditioning body wraps & scrubs, ayurvedic therapies and multiple massage modalities.

Borgata Indoor Pool and Gardens: Where better to reflect upon the good life than by a shimmering pool? How about a shady veranda? Who knew the good life could pose so many difficult questions?  It’s a prime spot to celebration National Relaxation Day!

Sunroom Lounge: The Water Club’s lobby lounge is a sun-filled space with cascading water and elegant gardens, offering delicious bites by the hotel’s Culinary Lifestyle Consultant, Geoffrey Zakarian, making it the perfect space to meet and mingle with friends. Begin National Relaxation Day with freshly squeezed juices, brunch cocktails, and coffee, or relax and unwind at night with a glass of wine and tapas.

Spa Toccare: Dedicated to undoing the effects of your day, Spa Toccare offers relaxing treatments guaranteed to exhilarate. Here, tensions melt. Knots disappear. Skin glistens. Eyes sparkle. And a new you emerges just in time to wave buh-bye to your worldly cares. The Water Club Outdoor Pools: Sun bathe, swim, or party. Luxurious lounge chairs and full pool service accompany the beautiful surroundings at The Water Club’s outdoor pools. Lounge poolside and enjoy cool cocktails and delicious snacks. Private Cabanas are available for daily rental by request, perfect for National Relaxation Day.

My Summer 2018 Re-Cap

August 15, 2018 by Asher Conniff aka misclick Leave a Comment

Well…another Las Vegas summer in the books.

All summer, all I could think about was how there really is nothing like the life and grind associated with playing the World Series of Poker and all of the surrounding tournaments. Spending two straight months away from home in the insane city that is Las Vegas, living in a rented house or hotel room and oftentimes spending 60 plus hours a week – every week, playing a card game.

Asher Confitt wins tournament and plays BorgataPoker.com.Thousands of people are all there chasing the same goal – playing a zero sum game where many must fail as only some succeed.  While a grueling and strategic few months, it truly is a one-of-a kind experience.

With that being said, somehow I didn’t have too many of those 60 plus hour weeks this summer. In 8 weeks I played in a total of 20 tournaments.  Now, that may seem like a lot but compared to my previous summers, and compared to the summers of other grinders, that really isn’t very much.  With the amount of tournaments running in Las Vegas during this year’s timeframe, it isn’t very difficult for someone to play twice or more that amount.

After my annual trip to Electric Daisy Carnival, one of the largest music festivals running held on a massive racetrack in the Vegas desert, I was able to work in the first tournament of the summer (and my second favorite behind the main event)- the WPT Tournament of Champions.

It obviously holds a special place in my heart as I was lucky enough to win this event at Borgata in April 2015! In previous years this tournament was the WPT World Championship. On top of that, the tournament was run so incredibly well by WPT and Aria casino.

They ran this tournament rake free, added over $200,000 in cash and prizes to the prize pool, players were given swag bags worth roughly $1,000 and the tournament used a 30-second shot clock (which I couldn’t have been a bigger fan of and wish was a part of every poker tournament).  Not having to deal with tanking and people stalling is really a treat. If I were a recreational player I would be incredibly turned-off by the tanking that sometimes takes place in live poker tournaments.  I had an incredibly fun run in the tournament, finally losing on day 2 in 19th place (10 people cashed).

Looking back, the rest of the summer now feels like sort of a blur.  I certainly enjoyed myself.

Personally, I probably had a few too many nights out on the strip.  I have a hard time saying “no” to a night out at a Night Swim Pool Party and probably spent a few too many nights watching the sun come up at 6AM.

However, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I was still able to make a bunch of decent runs, cash in six of the 20 tournaments I played in, and had a good time doing it!  I also was able to watch my good buddy, Justin Liberto, final table the Millionaire Maker and make a run at WSOP player of the year, my guy Michael Jukich finish 51st in the WSOP main event and watch my friends Seth Zimmerman and Craig Varnell get heads up in the $550 PLO!

I almost get more of a rush from watching friends and people I have a piece of go deep in tournaments than I do from going that deep myself.  Being a spectator is just as exciting as being the player sometimes!

As amazing as this summer was, I’m really excited to be back home. It’s looking like I’ll be moving to the Jersey City/Hoboken area, settling down a little bit, hopefully getting my first dog and getting off the road for a while.

That means more time spent playing on BorgataPoker.com in New Jersey, and playing in some live poker events throughout the Northeast which I am excited to get back inot.

There really is no place like home and I’m excited to be getting back to my roots.

I hope you all enjoyed my summer recap, I definitely plan on writing as often as I can!

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Cher

August 13, 2018 by Carie York Leave a Comment

Legendary performer Cher is 72 years old, and it appears that the singer, actress, and advocate shows no signs of stopping.  Cher will be playing two sold-out concerts at Borgata’s Event Center on August 17 & 18, where she’ll perform her most iconic hits.  In addition, she recently announced a forthcoming ABBA tribute album and can currently be seen on movie theatre screens across the country in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!  To prepare for her upcoming Atlantic City engagement, we found five fun facts about Cher that even the most diehard fan might not know!

She almost stared in Thelma & Louise: Cher turned down the part of Thelma  in order to appear in the film Mermaids. Can you imagine Susan Surandon and Cher driving cross country?

She’s a record-breaking success in the music industry: She is the only female artist in American history to have had  number 1 singles in the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.  If you could “turn back time,” you wouldn’t find another female artist who could top it!

The Cher Doll beat Barbie in sales: When toy makers released a miniature version of Cher in 1976, the doll flew off store shelves, beating out the sales of Barbie for the year.

In 1994, she launched her own brand of mail-order home furnishings: Many of the pieces had a medieval theme, including a gothic-style metal and wood bed and lamp with a chain metal shade.

She dropped out of high school at 16: Cher suffered from undiagnosed Dyslexia, which made her academic pursuits nearly impossible.  She found out at age 30 that she had the disorder, and it still slows her reading, but it hasn’t stopped her from being a huge success.

“Who Is It?” It’s Britney, B*tch! Super Fan Makes Britney Spears Laugh Out Loud at Borgata

August 9, 2018 by Bryan Buttler Leave a Comment

It’s the shout that was heard around the world…or, at the very least, around the sold-out Event Center at Borgata where Britney Spears performed for three nights in July.  Right before the Queen of Pop took to the stage to perform her hit single “Gimmie More,” a fan caught her off guard by shouting “Who is it?”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Blb-D6QAnZf/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=aiqs2gfgy874

Credit for the literal laugh out loud moment goes to Zachary Gordon-Abraham, who, from the looks of his Instagram account, seems to be just as much of a fan of Borgata as he is of Britney.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BlbPzwMFHUx/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1pxkozut1xosb

For Britney, it wasn’t just the concert that gave her laughs: She posted a fun video on her own Instagram that shows her riding go-carts with her sons in Atlantic City.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BlgGWL1HD1P/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=mv52ga5hyzad

It looks like it wasn’t just “work, b*tch” for the Pop Princess during her time at Borgata, and her fans certainly wish that she’d hit the Event Center stage “one more time”!
