Garden State Equality’s largest annual fundraiser, the Equality Walk, raises thousands of dollars each year for the organization. This year, the Equality Walk expanded, and included events in Atlantic City, Asbury Park, and Montclair. Borgata was pleased to be a sponsor of the event, which brings hundreds together to support New Jersey LGBTQ advocacy and education.
This year, the Equality Walk weekend was a tremendous success, with nearly 1000 participants and just under $125,000.00, the most ever raised for any Equality Walk in Garden State Equality’s history. In fact, the organization doubled the number of attendees in 2018, and hope to continue the upward trend for future events.
Established in 2004, Garden State Equality is the largest LGBTQ advocacy organization in New Jersey; their services include a variety of policy work, trainings, and support for the community. Their work is informed by racial, economic, and disability justice concerns. They are working to address safe environments for youth, improvement of health services that meet LGBT community needs, and respectful treatment of seniors. Beyond that, Garden State Equality supports New Jersey’s activist community by bringing an LGBT lens to the shared struggle for justice.
