For most of us, the holiday season serves as a special time to gather with family and friends, share a festive meal, and celebrate with gratitude all the good things in our lives. But sadly, many in our communities won’t have any food to put on the table on Thanksgiving and throughout the December holiday season — and on most days of the year.
That’s why Borgata has teamed up with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and the radio stations of Longport Media to take part in their Operation Help: Holiday Turkey and Food Drive. Borgata and its team members donated nearly 4,000 pounds of food, including 250 turkeys and hams, as well as a 2-section display refrigerator for the CFB’s Southern Branch location. Combined, Borgata’s contribution to this year’s event totaled approximately $9,000.
“Borgata is proud to assist the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s efforts in feeding those less fortunate this holiday season,” said Becky Schultz, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. “The commitment that our team members have shown towards both volunteering and donating their time to fight hunger and poverty is genuinely inspiring and reinforces the dedication that we have to support our local South Jersey community.”
If you are looking for a way to get involved, the Community FoodBank is accepting online monetary donations via their website. $25 can help feed a family of four with a turkey, all the fixings, and dessert. For more information, click here.
