March is National Women’s History Month. Additionally, March 8, 2020 was International Women’s Day, where organizers celebrate women’s achievement and take action for equality. Throughout the month of March, Borgata will honor their female team members across all divisions on the Borgata Blog. We’re highlighting the accomplishments of our outstanding female team members, and you’ll be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes these exemplary employees part of the Borgata family. In this edition, you’ll get a look at team members from Marketing, Talent, and Nightlife divisions.
Katie Mariquit, Social Media Manager
Who is someone you really admire? I really admire the women mentors I’ve acquired in the past three years at Borgata. I’m very lucky to work with women who exercise leadership in their own unique ways, and also challenge me to be the best I can be.
Where do you volunteer and how has it impacted you? Through Borgata, I’ve been able to volunteer at various organizations during the holiday season and throughout the year. As a social media manager, I’m lucky to be a part of sharing Borgata’s community involvement by covering amazing events at the Boys & Girls Club and St. Baldrick’s.
Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? My dad. I’ve learned everything from kindness to love to work ethic to how to order at a restaurant from my dad.
What’s something you want to do in the next year that you’ve never done before? I want to (and am going to) go on a girls’ trip to Greece.
Donna Allen, Advertising and Brand Manager
What is the career highlight you are most proud of? Coming back to work at Borgata after a 12 year hiatus and having people remember me. I was flattered by the comments from people who recognized how hard I worked when I was here previously.
Who is someone you really admire? My Mom. She worked for the same company for over 30 years and enjoyed her job so much that she even postponed retirement. She worked hard but was able to balance being a wife, mother, daughter, friend, and sister.
What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? Things that you don’t know are just opportunities to learn. Never say “I can’t” because you don’t know how. You can always learn new skills or gain more knowledge.
How would your 10-year old self react to what you do for a living? 10-year old me would probably think working in a fancy casino hotel would be fun. She’d also probably think I get to touch all t
he money and meet the celebrities who perform here. Spoiler: I don’t get to do either!
Chelsea Reyes, M life Experience Manager
How do you feel you impact the people around you? I hope they feel that they can always come to me. Even if they have a question I don’t know the answer to, I will try to figure it out for them!
What was the first career you dreamed of having as a child? Veterinarian.
What is one thing about you that surprises others? I have a family of 5 and work 3 jobs.
What qualities do you value in the people with whom you work? Drive, grit and passion.
Shana Vanegas, Casino Host
What is the career highlight you are most proud of? I am most proud of my contribution of executing the Diamond Necklace Sweepstakes in 2017. It was amazing to birth an idea, nurture it, and see it through to fruition through the collaboration and creativity of my team.
What is your favorite activity in your current position and how often do you get to do it? My favorite activity in my current position is greeting new customers. I can do this every single day. It is rewarding to hear their stories and get to know them.
Who is someone you really admire? I really admire actress Trace Ellis Ross. She chooses to be a positive role model by portraying characters that promote confidence, self-love, and positivity.
Where do you volunteer and how has it impacted you? I volunteer at the American R
ed Cross as an advisor to the Youth Counsel of Southern New Jersey Chapter, and as a Social Media Engagement Volunteer. As I am continuing my training in these positions, it has been very rewarding and remarkable to see high school students choosing to give back at such a young age.
Kateryna Endrizzi, Human Resources Business Partner
What is your favorite activity in your current position and how often do you get to do it? I love being part of team members’ career paths as they are promoted or transfer to new opportunities.
What is your definition of success? My definition of success is being part of a successful team. A successful team to me is one that challenges and supports each team members.
What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a child? I absolutely wanted to be a ballerina. Can’t you see it? Kateryna the Ballerina? It rhymes.
How many years have you been at Borgata? Share a favorite memory. I’ve worked here for 5 years. I loved the 15 Year Anniversary celebrations. I loved how Borgata took the time to celebrate what makes it so special: its team members.
Emma Juarez, Nightlife Coordinator
Where do you volunteer and how has it impacted you? I have volunteered at Covenant House AC, Beacon Animal Rescue, and with the church I am a member of. It has impacted me tremendously as it is a reminder to practice humility and kindness.
What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? Don’t be afraid to share your vision with others, because you’ll never know who’s willing to help make it a reality.
Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? My biggest teacher has been my journey as a young single mom.
If someone were to play you in a movie, who would you want it to be? Halle Berry.
Rachel Driscoll, Box Office Supervisor
What’s the first career that you dreamed of having as a child? As a child, I wanted to be an actress and a model.
What is the one piece of advice you received which has changed your life? I had an elementary school teacher that told me, “I am woman. Hear me roar.” She would tell me this any time I was frustrated on an assignment.
Who, or what, has been your biggest teacher? I feel like life has been my biggest teacher. I have learned to not sweat the small stuff and to never take life for granted.
If someone where you play you in a movie, who would you want it to be? I would want Jennifer Lopez to play me in a movie.
