Week 3 of the NFL is now a wrap and while some teams are meeting or exceeding expectations early on, there are others that have their fans already calling for coaching changes, quarterbacks to be benched or just giving up on the season already. Let’s take a look at some of the teams that have made good, strong impressions right out of the gate and look at their games for this upcoming weekend.
The two most impressive teams in the NFC would be the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. Both teams were expected to have decent seasons and be playoff teams coming into this season, but the offensive numbers that both teams are putting up are astronomical. The Packers have scored an unbelievable 122 combined points in their first 3 games and have easily covered the spread in each game. Aaron Rodgers is playing great at quarterback and Green Bay fans are very excited at the prospects for this season. On Monday Night Football (Oct. 5), the Packers look to stay undefeated against the Atlanta Falcons. While the Falcons have also not had any issues scoring points through the first 3 weeks, they have had major difficulties stopping their opponents from scoring. They are off to an 0-3 start, losing the last two weeks in brutal fashion, giving up big leads late in the 4th quarter. With the Packers playing like they have, they opened as a 7 ½ point favorite for their Monday night match-up with the Falcons. The total is set very high for this one, opening at 58.
The Seattle Seahawks are also off to an undefeated start. This week, they travel across the country to take on the Miami Dolphins. Seattle opened as a 6 ½ point favorite as no one seems capable of stopping quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson is the current betting favorite to win NFL MVP this season. The Dolphins are 1-2 to start the year and will probably struggle to contain Wilson. The total in this game is also high, opening at 54 ½ but with good reason as Seattle has been scoring a lot of points, but having difficulties defensively. The Dolphins are certainly capable of scoring, so if you are going to bet this game, look at taking the over.
Now, let’s head to the AFC and look at the undefeated, reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are fresh off an impressive Monday night victory against a very good Baltimore Ravens team, one that many felt could challenge the Chiefs for AFC supremacy this season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes once again showed why he is also a favorite to win NFL MVP this year, with another great game. The Chiefs will welcome in the New England Patriots this coming Sunday. The Patriots are coming off a big win against the Las Vegas Raiders last week and are eager to show what their new-look offense, featuring quarterback Cam Newton, can muster against the Chiefs defense. The Chiefs will probably be around an opening line 7 point favorite in this one.
