Our friends at Atlantic City Weekly hit on a great idea about seven years ago when they came up with the idea for the AC Weekly Nightlife Awards. Not only did they honor all of the great nightlife in Atlantic City, they went to the true experts to figure out which clubs and casinos should be singled out each year.
Those experts were their readers, which is basically you, the beautiful people that make the Atlantic City scene happen.
As you might expect, Borgata Nightlife has had a pretty healthy representation in the awards through the years (Thanks to your votes) and this year, 2015, we’re positively swooning over the love you’ve shown to MIXX, one of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s premiere nightclubs and party spots.
MIXX took first place honors in eight different categories.
Winter isn’t letting up so neither is Borgata Nightlife’s Winter Music Series at MIXX which continues February 6 with DVBBS and then February 13 with W&W.
It’s kind of the initial phase of the Winter Music Series to start off the month. Get it? Initials – DVBBS and W&W?
Anywaaay …
The month starts off with DVBBS — the Canadian Dance Music duo of brothers Chris Andre and Alex Andre van den Hoef, best known for their joint international hit with Borgeous titled “Tsunami.” The vocal remix of “Tsunami (Jump)”, featuring Tinie Tempah, reached number 1 on the UK and Scotland charts. Of course we have them in Atlantic City, after the brothers finish up a Brazilian swing on their latest tour.
While “Tsunami” may be what they are best known for, a look at their follow-ups, such as “Pyramids” featuring Sanjin shows a diversity you might not expect from a Canadian duo.
“Pyramids” channels the same percussive intensity of “Tsunami” but mixes it with Jamaican influences. “It feels so good to bring back our reggae roots,” the duo tells Billboard. “We’ve been wanting to crossover with a reggae vibe for quite some time. It all started at a hotel in Sweden with our homie Sanjin. The next day we hit a studio in Amsterdam and the track was coming to life.”
So, you know, reggae roots from a couple of guys from Ontario.

Borgata Nightlife is famous for its ability to turn any weekend into a three-day weekend. So when you actually have a three-day holiday weekend—as we do with Martin Luther King Day on January 19, this Monday—you can expect even more.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has put together one of the best line-ups of DJs and shows you’ll find anywhere, let alone on a cold January weekend.

There are a lot of great DJ monikers in the world, even if a lot of them don’t make sense. But when they do, that just makes things sweeter.
Take the case of Dijon McFarlane, known as DJ Mustard (Dijon … get it) who plays MIXX January 17. He appears with Doug Grayson with an opening set by Heavy Hitters DJ Mark Da Spot.
AS DJ Mustard explains on his website, the Los Angeles-born native has coined the “ratchet” sound, bringing a hot, new and different sound to hip-hop.
The style is an up-tempo, club oriented, catchy yet a basic melodic hip-hop style.
In just three years, Mustard has put together a string of hits for the likes of Tyga (“Rack City”), 2 Chainz (“I’m Different”), Young Jeezy (“R.I.P.”), Kid Ink (“Show Me”), Y.G. (“My Hitta”) and nabbed collaborations with Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz and more.
Mustard executive produced YG’s debut album “My Krazy Life” which peaked #2 on Billboard 200, #1 R&B/Hip-Hop, & #1 Rap charts. (Mustard recently said the two are “homies” again and have settled their well-publicized public feud, btw)
In 2014, DJ Mustard took over the airwaves with a peak of seven songs hitting the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time. His debut album, 10 Summers was the most downloaded album during the summer of 2014 on Google Play.
Want to know one of the biggest misconceptions about Atlantic City and winter?
Answer: that it’s the slow season.
Not at Borgata Nightlife.
Winter means MIXX at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is supplying extra heat with its Winter Music Series. Two Fridays each month the club opens up to special DJ appearances and shows.
First up for January is DJ Chuckie, extending his Dirty Dutch sound to MIXX Friday, January 9 joined by Borgata House DJ Paul Castro.
Next up, January 16 is music by Nervo with spinning by Borgata DJ Carlos Melange.
Chuckie, born in Suriname, is appearing hot off the release of the EP Traphall with ChildsPlay. As Chuckie puts it on his website, the “four-track EP and collaboration with ChildsPlay features a bombastic hybrid of trap and classic dancehall tunes unlike any before it. Traphall is a testament to Chuckie’s vision for Dirty Dutch Music. This incomparable leadership is taking the label into all spectrums of dance music, leaving no stone unturned.”
But what else would you expect from a guy whose nickname is the King of Dirty Dutch. For those who don’t know what Dirty Dutch is, it is a genre characterized by high pitched lead synths over Latin-inspired rhythms and samples.

Now for those people out there who are good at planning—you know the kind of people who made reservations for a Time’s Square hotel six years ago—that’s no big deal.

Don’t look now, but 2015 is gaining on us and New Year’s Eve is less than three weeks away.
For a lot of people, that means panic time. Where should we go? Where’s the best party? Where will we get the kind of New Year’s Eve action that we’ll truly remember?
The answers? Borgata, Borgata and … Borgata.
This New Year’s Eve, which just happens to be a nice mid-week Wednesday night, Borgata Nightlife has lined up several days of parties at our signature bars and nightclubs—enough to turn a mid-week break into a full-on week-long party.
It starts Sunday, December 28, with Dutch DJ and record producer Tiesto playing a full-on show in the Borgata Event Center, with an opening set from Moti. Here’s a full rundown on the show. Tickets are $79.50 to $89.50 and available here.
On Monday, December 29, check out the Industry NYE party with Lil Jon at mur.mur, part of mur.mur Mondays as the rapper/record producer brings the crunk to the best industry party in A.C. Tickets are $30.
On the big night, New Year’s Eve, Borgata Nightlife presents DJ Fashen at mur.mur and D-Nice at MIXX.
Alan Macklovitch, better known as the master DJ A-Trak, has pretty much had things his own way since winning the DMC World DJ Championship in 1997 at the age of 15. That’s what you call making a career entrance.
Since then, the question isn’t what has the 32-year-old DJ done, it’s what hasn’t he done?
Win all three major DJ competition titles (DMC, ITF and Vestax)? Did that.
Developed his own notation system for scratching? Did that
Started his own record label (Fool’s Gold Records)? Did that too.
Become the personal tour DJ for an act like Kanye West? Uh-huh.
Become a street-wear icon by collaborating with Nike, New Era, Kidrobot, Zoo York and pretty much every other designer getting any notice? Yep.
Produced a ton of hit singles and remixes? That too.
You may be noticing a trend here. Still, A-Trak hasn’t done everything—close, but not yet, However, he will be spinning at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa at MIXX along with Carlos Melange on November 29. The appearance comes just days after the scheduled release of his newest single, Push on November 25.
There’s a definite art to the perfect Halloween costume. You want to stand out and get noticed, but at the same time you don’t want to wear what everyone else is wearing.
Or maybe you do, which is fine. The sexy nurse, or sexy witch or buff superhero costume always works and usually gets you noticed. But it’s not like the old standbys are going to win a Halloween costume contest on originality are they?
But wait. Costume contest, you ask? Would that be Halloween costume contests at Borgata Nightlife?
Why yes. This year Borgata Nightlife is holding … wait for it … six different Halloween contests at our nightlife venues and giving away cash prizes and overnight stays at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
It starts out at mur.mur Mondays October 27 for a kind of pre-Halloween costume extravaganza. First prize is $1,000 with a second prize of free bottle service and an overnight stay.
On Halloween night—which conveniently is a Friday night this year—Borgata Nightlife has three costume contests with one each at mur.mur, MIXX and Gypsy Bar. First place is $2,500 at MIXX and mur.mur with free bottle service and an overnight stay for second. At Gypsy Bar, first prize is $1,000 with a $250 bar tab and reserved table for second place.
Finally, on Saturday, November 1, MIXX and mur.mur both hold contests again with first place winning $2,500 and free bottle service and an overnight stay for second.

It’s September, and across the country colleges are back up and running for a new semester. That’s classes, exams, dissertations and long discussions on the existential nature of mankind.
Of course, there’s also a lot of friends, parties and general fun having, which, who knows?, may very well be the existential nature of mankind in the first place. You know, life’s a party.
We at Borgata Nightlife can’t tell you if all of life’s a party, but it certainly helps spruce up the last summer weekend of the season. So, this Saturday, September 20, we’re having a Back to School Party at our nightclubs MIXX and mur.mur.
That includes a $1,000 giveaway—$500 each at each club—to, you know help with books and other college essentials. (You must have a My Borgata Card to enter. See a nightlife representative at the club to apply.)
